CONSOLATION PRIZE – ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN PROPOSAL FOR NGHE AN PROVINCIAL POST OFFICE
The design concept of the Nghe An Provincial Post Office is a harmonious combination of urban memory and the cultural identity of the Nghe An region within a contemporary architectural language. The project skillfully preserves familiar images of the old post office, such as the long glass walls, porch columns, and the large clock on the facade, to maintain the continuity of urban memory. At the same time, the design extracts characteristic indigenous values, such as stilt house roofs, simple thatched roofs, woven bamboo sun-shading screens adapted to the harsh climate, along with the imagery of Uncle Ho’s lotus pond. This harmonious design not only evokes a sense of familiarity but also strengthens the deep connection between the architecture, the people, and the local context.
